Ethereum up 60% in a month
Ethereum has grown by about 60% in a month. Analysts note that the ETH/BTC pair has fallen by 45% in a year due to the dominance of BTC as an asset for savings and corporate reserves. Retail flows have gone to faster and cheaper networks like Solana. Ethereum has found itself between the roles of not the best storage and not the most convenient platform for speculation. Now the situation is changing under the influence of the growth of stablecoins, the development of L2 solutions and the closing of shorts.
The Ethereum network accounts for about 51% of all stablecoins. In the RWA sector, it also leads - the volume of tokenized assets has reached $ 22 billion. The use of ETH as a settlement token in L2 protocols supports the demand for cryptocurrency.
Tether valuation exceeds $150 billion
USDT's total supply has exceeded $150 billion. According to Tether, about $73 billion of that is issued on the TRON network, surpassing Ethereum for the first time. In the first quarter of 2025, the bulk of the issuer's reserves — almost $120 billion — were short-term U.S. Treasury bonds. Operating profit for the same period exceeded $1 billion. USDT's largest competitor, Circle's USDC stablecoin, is valued at about $60 billion. Other market participants, such as USDS, USDe, and USD1, remain below the $10 billion mark.
Ethereum unveils "Trillion Dollar Security" initiative
The Ethereum Foundation has announced the Trillion Dollar Security initiative, a large-scale project aimed at increasing the level of security of the Ethereum ecosystem with the ambitious task of creating conditions for the global transition to blockchain.
The goal of the program is to ensure a level of reliability at which billions of users will be able to safely store more than $1,000 on-chain, and institutional players will be able to manage assets worth up to $1 trillion within a single application or contract.
The project involves systematic work: analyzing the strengths and vulnerabilities of the network at all levels of technology, implementing key improvements based on the results of the assessment, and developing an effective dialogue between ecosystem participants on security issues. Fredrik Svantes and Josh Stark have been appointed as program managers from the foundation.
Solana co-founder proposes meta-blockchain to reduce data availability costs
Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko presented the idea of a meta-blockchain, a concept in which data can be placed on different networks and then combined into a single sequence according to specified rules.
In the basic version, a transaction could reference the headers of the latest blocks from networks like Ethereum, Celestia, or Solana. Once confirmed in these chains, it will receive a guaranteed place in the order of events, Yakovenko explained.
Celestia Labs COO Nick White noted that such a model would face technical and financial difficulties, especially when verifying chains for cross-chain bridges. In response, Kevin Wang of Nervos Network expressed confidence in the prospects of the idea, adding that further development will be associated with the blocking of states or resources rather than using DA.
Ledger restores Discord server security after hack
Hardware wallet company Ledger has regained access to its Discord server after a hacker attack. On May 10, an attacker hacked the account of one of the moderators and began distributing phishing links, directing users to a fake site asking them to enter their seed phrase. Attempts by community members to warn others were blocked or restricted in the chat.
The team quickly removed the malicious bot, disabled access to the compromised account, and strengthened security measures. This is not the first case of fraud: previously, Ledger users received letters with the brand logo, which also offered to undergo "verification" by entering a seed phrase.
Procolored printers were spreading malware
For at least six months, the official software supplied with Procolored printers contained malicious components — a remote access trojan and a cryptocurrency theft tool. The first to report the threat was YouTube blogger Serial Hobbyism.
After installing drivers for the Procolored V11 Pro model, the antivirus detected the Floxif USB worm. With the help of third-party specialists, the blogger found that the software for at least six models, including the F8, F13, and V11 Pro, hosted on the Mega file sharing service, was infected with the XRedRAT trojan and the SnipVex clipper. The latter replaces bitcoin addresses in the clipboard and infects .exe files.
About 9.3 BTC (approximately $1 million at the exchange rate at the time of publication) was received on the cryptocurrency wallet used by SnipVex to withdraw the stolen funds. The company has already removed the malicious files and launched an internal investigation.
